ORGANIZATION
The Foundation for Culture and Tradition of Boka Kotorska "Project Rastko-Boka" is an independent, non-governmental, non-political and non-profitable foundation with the seat in Herceg-Novi.
VISION
The conservation of identity of Boka Kotorska as a unique geographical, historical and cultural phenomenon.
MISSION
The affirmation of science, culture, art, tradition, cultural and natural heritage of Boka Kotorska throughout development and application of modern informatics technologies.
AIMS
The collecting and negotiating of means with the intention to achieve and publish science, culture and art works in electronic and classic form, as being related to area of Boka Kotorska within its traditional boundaries (municipalities of Kotor, Tivat, Herceg-Novi and Budva) and within wider area.

The "Project Rastko-Boka" - The electronic library of Culture and Tradition of Boka Kotorska www.rastko.org.yu/rastko-bo started its activities on 12th July, 2001 as one of provincial centers of the "Project Rastko" - the library of Serbian culture on the Internet – www.rastko.org.yu. The project was registered according to the Decree of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Montenegro № 02-4957/03 dated 18 th December, 2003, as the non-governmental organization named FONDACIJA ZA KULTURU I TRADICIJU BOKE "PROJEKAT RASTKO-BOKA" and it was entered in the Registry of non-governmental foundations under the number 73. The foundation endeavours to make accessible all cultural properties, especially public properties to scholars and general public, providing also for expert supervision. The foundation affirms the principles of scholarly ethics, professionalism, the principles of national, religious and civic tolerance, making the culture and tradition of Boka Kotorska and the wider area more open towards other cultures, especially in the region of South-Eastern Europe, and in the wider sense towards integral European and World culture and civilization heritage.
The Project initiated with the publication of 16 integral authors’ units in 2001, while only two years later it became the most extensive and the most visited site, which relates to information adherent to Boka Kotorska, with over 550 authors’ units, including even the electronic library of Monastery of Saint Michael on Prevlaka.
The International System "Rastko" is the greatest electronic library in the South-Eastern Europe and one of the greatest in the World. It registers total number of 1.000.000 visits per year, with the tendency to double the number of visits each 10 months. Individual contributions to the system "Rastko" are registered by number of 500 to 35.000 visits at the annual level. All documents are published in Cyrillic and Latin variation, and partly in foreign languages.
Herceg-Novi October Award
Foundation for Culture and Tradition of Boka Kotorska "Project Rastko-Boka" was bestowed the Herceg-Novi October Award for the year of 2004, "for exceptional contribution in electronic publication and affirmation of science, art, culture and tradition of Boka Kotorska at the global level". The award is a special recognition by the community, for the greatest achievements and exceptional results in work and creativity.

"Foundation for Culture and Tradition of Boka Kotorska "Project Rastko-Boka" Herceg-Novi – The first electronic library of Culture and Tradition of Boka Kotorska is a non-political, non-governmental and non-profitable foundation engaged in electronic and classic archiving and in publishing science, culture and art works in electronic and classic form. All the works are related to Boka Kotorska and its wider area. It represents regional and the most important electronic library at eastern Mediterrannean coast (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania). From 2001 it has published more than 550 different collections (integral book publications, articles, documents and photo-galleries), which contributed to the affirmation of science, culture, art, tradition and tourism potentials of Herceg-Novi and Boka Kotorska at the global level. As a relevant source it has been used in constructing historiography works and tourist guides about Montenegro in several languages, and it entered into various foreign university electronic libraries. As a part of the "Rastko" system, the Foundation has been highly recommended by several institutions of the European Union, the Congress Library in Washington, etc.
The Foundation for Culture and Tradition of Boka Kotorska "Project Rastko-Boka" Herceg-Novi is authorized by the oldest world electronic library – the american "Project Gutenberg" and by its european seat "Project Gutenberg-Europe", to be the founder and to implement the project "Gutenberg-Montenegro", which represents the main electronic book library in the public domain for the Republic of Montenegro. That will place Herceg-Novi among the main international centers of electronic publishing."
